Job Interview Tips – A Great Resource For Job Interview Preparation

Congratulations. You’re well ahead of the game. What am I talking about, you ask? The fact that you’re reading this article about job interview tips says a few things about you. First of all, it says you realize that getting an interview in and of itself does not mean you’re going to get the job. Second, it means you’re serious about making a great impression. And third, it means you really want the job so you’re going to prepare for your interview.

It always boggles my mind when people think they can just wing it. They don’t feel they have to prepare for a job interview. Sure, some people have the gift of the gab, but no matter how adept you are at thinking on your feet and no matter how effective a communicator you are, these things are not substitutes for job interview preparation. Why? Because there are certain things interviewers look for when interviewing candidates that you can’t convey in answers that are concocted on the fly. I don’t care how confident or assertive you are. You must prepare.

There are lots of great resources out there that offer really useful job interview tips. Just do a search online and you’ll find endless amounts of content that covers topics from how to dress for an interview to what to say when the interview is over. One of my favorite sources of interview tips is a book called The 250 Job Interview Questions. As the title suggests, the book focuses on a wide range of questions asked by interviewers and provides sample answers to those questions. The book also offers lots of other useful interview tips. One of the most insightful parts is the chapter that highlights twelve themes employers look for. Veruki provides a great framework for organizing these themes so you can refer back to them in each of your answers to the interviewer’s questions. I highly recommend this book for anyone who’s serious about preparing for an interview.
